I collect Martins d 28s and need a cabinet for five high end needing TLC. The ability to store and display is nice. Please send an email regarding my needs.

    Thank you,

Hi Steve, I’m not sure if you got my email, so I’ll duplicate it here.
For five D28s you should go with our medium cabinet. It’ll hold five dreadnaught size guitars with no problem.

We make three basic sizes of Guitar Habitat™ cabinets (display cabinets with humidifier). All of these cabinets are 63 inches high, 21 inches deep and vary in width. The medium cabinet is 40” wide and holds up to 6 guitars. The number of guitars will vary based on the size of your instruments and how you want them positioned in the cabinets. The largest number of guitars is obtained by having the guitars go straight into the cabinet. If you angle them, or have them face out then the number of guitars will be fewer.

The humidifiers vary in size as well. The standard humidifier for the medium cabinet is a 1.5 quart that will typically go about 10-14 days between refills. For a $200 up charge, we can install a one gallon humidifier in the medium cabinet that can go 3-4 weeks between refills.

If you have any questions, feel free to call. We’re open seven days a week.

I’m confused about the description of the medium guitar habitat. The bullet list says 1-gallon is standard, while the paragraph description says 1.5 quart. Have you upgraded the configuration but not the paragraph description?

Yes Michael, I thought I’d caught all the times we had mentioned the size of the humidifier on the Web site, but I guess I missed one. The medium cabinets we’re shipping now are equipped with one gallon humidifiers.

Are “neckties” and a humidistat available options for the Medium cabinet?

Yes they are. The humidistat is included in all our cabinets as one of the standard features (it controls the humidifier). The Neck Ties are available as an option on all our cabinets. The Neck Tie adds $425 to the price of the cabinet. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 267-272-2460

Was wondering what the dehumidification option consists of. How is it done and controlled and what is the price for it?

The dehumidification is done via an active membrane technology developed by Mitsubishi for industrial applications. It consists of an ionic membrane approximately 3×3 inches that is built into the back of the Guitar Habitat™ cabinet, and integrated with our controller. It breaks down H2O into hydrogen and oxygen and pumps the hydrogen out of the cabinet, which lowers the humidity. As a result there is no dehumidifier water tank to empty. It costs $995 and is recommended if you live in an environment with high humidity in the summer, but where it’s temperate enough that you live with your windows open. Generally air conditioning removes enough humidity from the air that a dehumidifier is not needed, so the dehumidifier is typically only equipped for people that like to live without the AC on in the summer.

Does it matter what type of water is used in the humidifier? Distilled, filtered, RO, or tap?

Yes, we recommend distilled water. Typical refill times (depending on cabinet type, and your local relative humidity levels) are one gallon every three to six weeks.

I was wondering, and unfortunately, I have a nice fender Jagstang. What is the lowest price I could get for a cabinet for it?

The least expensive cabinet we offer is $2,995 and holds up to four guitars.

Do you make a solution for humidifying the case for three months ? Dry heat in VT and leave the house at 50 or 55 degrees. I’m away for up to three months.
    Thanks,
    Chas

Yes we do. We offer an auto fill humidifier tank that can be connected to your home water supply similar to the way a refrigerator ice maker connects. It would work unmanned for as long as you like.
